When
Schneider Children's Hospital opened it's doors in 1983, outpatient
medical services was provided for 40,000 children. In the year
2000 that number grew to 115,000. In 2006 we have provided outpatient
services to over 162,000 children.
To keep pace with the growing demand for
our services, we have adopted an aggressive plan to construct
an ambulatory facility adjacent and connected to Schneider Children's
Hospital in New Hyde Park, and to rebuild Schneider Children's
Hospital.
There
will be extensive expansion of inpatient and ambulatory facilities
as well as new programs in brain tumors (neuro-oncology), orthopedics,
urology, pulmonary medicine, and pediatric surgery.
